This is the third story in the “Unforselfconsciousness” series, which started with “Reflections of Affections” and “From Forever to Later That Night.” If you haven’t read those stories I strongly suggest you do so and if you can’t find them on any of the archives write to me and I’ll send them to you. (IMPORTANT NOTE: read this before you send me your request.) Although this story should stand on its own, it’ll make more sense if you read the prequels, and you will enjoy it more, too.

The usual disclaimers apply: I don’t own any of the characters (except those that are mine). Forever Knight is owned by Sony/TriStar /Columbia and this other company TPTB which some authors refer to but I have no clue what it is. The characters are the creations of James Parriott and Barney Cohen and Co. and therefore aren’t mine. I’m not making any money from this; please don’t sue me; I am just borrowing them for a few rounds and will return them to their rightful owners as soon as I’m done.

This story is adult rated for implied sexual situations between a vampire and a female human and is therefore not suitable for anyone who shouldn’t be reading this stuff based on the laws of your region. If you are underage or get immensely disturbed by scenes involving someone’s tongue in someone else’s cheek please don’t read further.

This story was never supposed to come to life but after the last installment in the series, a lot of you wrote to me and asked for a sequel and that encouraged me very much to write this story. Although it is not quite a crossover, it was supposed to be a Forever Knight/Gone With the Wind /Batman crossover but the copyright problems prevented me from taking that revolutionary step. However that idea is still inside my head and hopefully, some day, I’ll write it down in a story.

As all of you who have read the prequels know, the “Unforselfconsciousness” series follows the life story of the character Shweye who was created by me in the first story and was called Jeoleena in the first and half of the second story until she discovered her real identity and found out her real name was Shweye. She is the biological daughter of Nick or LaCroix (as it is not clear yet, but hang in there. You’ll find out soon.) and was brought across in 1574 by another child of LaCroix who will also make an appearance in the series She has a small part in this story but it will reveal a great secret about her, which I’m sure you’re all eager to hear about.

I want to take this opportunity to thank my beta readers Mary-Sue Smith and Torsten Möller who helped me improve my writing and make this story a more enjoyable experience for you (if you like to send them your thanks, contact me and I’ll give you their email). Also, many thanks to Stella Atkins who sent me cookies when I was down and not in the mood to write anything anymore after being criticized by a senseless, mean reader who didn’t know how to appreciate my writing. Stella encouraged me not to listen to critics because they essentially have no brains and are people who wash their cars and walk their dogs while the rest of us spend time in front of our computers, writing beautiful stories for them, which they don’t appreciate and complain about. You’re right Stella, damn them all.

I also wanted to thank my mom and dad for taking care of me and being supportive and loving all the time. It’s because of them that I’m a writer now and can bring my FK friends such great works of fiction. I love you folks.

Finally I’d like to ask you all to send me feedback for this story to me at countessa2000@yahoo.com and tell me how much you love the series. Please don’t send any bad comments because I’ll most likely throw them away (Stella told me not to even read those discouraging comments from people who think they know better than me).

Ok, the long wait is over, here is the third installment in the moving and passionate series “The Unforselfconsciousness: Baragouin of the Knight”

Permission to archive on the FTP site, the Fkfanfic1&2 sites, the JADFE archive, the N&N archive, the Cousine’s archive (it has LaCroix in it), the Ravenette’s archive (it has Janette in it), the FK fanfic awards and the Raven awards and all the rest of the awards that are out there. Anyone else who I have forgotten to mention here must have written permission from my person to archive this story anywhere on the net or I’ll screw them on Forkni-l, I swear. Please show proper respect to my copyright rights.

All right, you may enjoy the story now.

Baragouin of the Knight(1/???)

Part of The Unforselfconsciousness universe

After “From Forever to Later That Night”

December 7, 2001

Love, passion, affection, so much they couldn’t breathe. So they turned their faces towards the North wind to get more air. Holding each other’s hands, on the bright, moonlit rooftop they stand, and Nick thought he had wanted nothing more in the world than this moment ever since he had become a child of the night.

“Always and forever
Each moment with you
Is just like a dream to me
That somehow came true”

And as he hugged his Natalie close to his heart and kissed her wetly, all he could think of was Shweye and how much she had changed their lives ever since she had stepped into their lives.

“And I know tomorrow
Will still be the same
Cause we've got a life of love
That won't ever change and..”

When they parted, on the whispers of the wind he could hear the call of his family, LaCroix and Janette were calling to him: “Nicholas, Nicholas, come back to us.” He lifted his head to the moon, sending ultrasonic messages to them through their psychic link they shared over the centuries. Eyes closed, he howled to them silently; “I am coming, ma famille, I am coming. And I’m bringing my heart’s greatest love with me.”

“Every day
Love me your own special way
Melt all my heart away
With a smile”

So with a smile, that soon turned into a grotesque snarl of razor sharp teeth, Nick bit into Natalie’s slender neck and with all the passion of his heart and soul, brought her across in that instant. After it was done, the eternal lovers kissed each other passionately for more than 10 minutes. Vampires don’t consume air so they didn’t have to come up for air and could continue kissing for even more than that, like for 20 minutes or even more, but they had to break apart because dawn was fast approaching and it was time to go. With a last look at the fading silver moon, the lovers took each other’s arms and flew over the wind and into the night.

“Take time to tell me
You really care
And we'll share tomorrow together
I'll always love you Forever’

After their departure, a veiled figure emerged from the darkness of the shadows and looked at where the lovers had been standing only minutes ago. She sighed, her beautiful, anguished face hidden behind a cloak, and whispered: “Love is such a beautiful thing. I am so desperately happy that Nicholas and Natalie finally found true love in each other. But it’s such a shame that no love is safe from the cruelties of the time. I can see dark clouds gathering in the sky and tomorrow is going to be a cold, rainy day. I have to do the ultimate sacrifice to save their love from destruction and thus, save the world from evil darkness.” With that, Shweye turned her slender, Venus-like body and walked back to the shadows were she always stayed, reserved and protected, carrying the weight of the world on her weak shoulders silently. Not letting our heroes ever find out what she went through to eternalize their love, she flew back to her abode.

“Take time to tell me
You really care
And we'll share tomorrow together
I'll always love you Forever”

THE END

End notes: The lyrics are from the song “Always and Forever” by Heatwave. No copyright infringement intended.

What will happen to Nick and Natalie and their bright shining love? She is a vampire now and they are both returning to the fold. What will destiny have in store for them and for Shweye? Will she be able to save eternal love in the world or be drowned by the storms of dark tomorrow? Find out in the sequel: “The Unforselfconsciousness: Knightowl in the Wind” coming soon. (I’ll only write it if you send me a lot of feedback for this one. Otherwise there will be no sequel.)
